"The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty

of old men is the gray head." ( Pr 20:29)

The youth of our {culture} has been deeply wounded

by the collective neglect and adult-driven focus.

Young People need adults to understand what they are

going through and people to care about them without

a personal agenda.

Just thinking... (borrowed from a friend; thanks Sammy).

What moves you to 'care' for the youth, true love or your agenda?

It is all because of You! PDF Print E-mail

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
(Jn 3:16)

This verse has 5 critical points that, depending on how I approach them,
can determine either my  victory or my defeat.

1. It is God, not me, who initiates our relationship;
my part is to respond to his love.

2. Giving & self sacrifice are the ruling principle of his love.

3. Salvation is free, but conditional;
it cannot be enjoyed without belief & trust.

4. The everlasting life promised here is the result of:
acceptance (that we are too week to obtain victory on our own) + the
belief & trust that Jesus is exactly what we need.

 5. God's love and saving efforts have one single object in mind: YOU!

Accept his offer of eternal life...TODAY! :)

The Three Trees PDF Print E-mail
Written by Pastor Edgardo Torres

Our story begins with the three trees speaking about their dreams of what they
wanted to be and what their life would be like. Each has an idea of what they would
like to become or do. Just as we have goals set and things we would like to do and
become, the trees find out, like we do, the process of becoming might be a little
different than what we might expect.

The first tree desired to be a treasure box and ends up as a mere feeding
trough.
“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and
laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2: 7

The second desired to be a strong sailing ship, and ultimately becomes a
small fishing boat, carrying stinking fish.
"And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there
arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves:
but he was asleep…Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was
a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even
the winds and the sea obey him!" Matthew 8:23-27

The third who wanted to remain planted and point Heavenward, as the
tallest tree in the forest, is made into lumber that is fashioned into a cross.
"And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they
compelled to bear his cross. And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha,
that is to say, a place of a skull…they crucified him…and sitting down they watched
him there; And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE
KING OF THE JEWS." Matthew 27: 32-38

At first glimpse their individual dreams seem to be unanswered, but what appears to
be an unanswered dream, really is fulfilled and given value by and through Jesus Christ.

What is your dream in life? You want to have riches?; you want to be a strong &
well recognized leader?; You want to stand tall & point others the way they should
go? It may be that God has these plans for you, but open your eyes…maybe they
will be fulfilled in the most unexpected ways for you. Have a great day!

Not Only Pray, but Ask and Work! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Pastor Edgardo Torres
Monday, 09 January 2012 08:30
Then the king said to me, “What do you request?” So I prayed
to the God of heaven. And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, ...
I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs,
that I may rebuild it.” Nehemiah 2:4, 5, NKJV.While Nehemiah
implored the help of God, he did not fold his own hands, feeling
that he had no more care or responsibility in the bringing about
of his purpose to restore Jerusalem. With admirable prudence
and forethought he proceeded to make all the arrangements
necessary to ensure the success of the enterprise....

The example of this holy man should be a lesson to all the people
of God, that they are not only to pray in faith, but to work with
diligence and fidelity. How many difficulties we encounter, how
often we hinder the working of Providence in our behalf, because
prudence, forethought, and painstaking are regarded as having
little to do with religion! This is a grave mistake. It is our duty to
cultivate and to exercise every power that will render us more
efficient workers for God. Careful consideration and well-matured
plans are as essential to the success of sacred enterprises today as
in the time of Nehemiah....

Men and women of prayer should be men and women of action.
Those who are ready and willing will find ways and means of working.
Nehemiah did not depend upon uncertainties. The means which he
lacked he solicited from those who were able to bestow.

The Lord still moves upon the hearts of kings and rulers in behalf of
His people. Those who are laboring for Him are to avail themselves
of the help that He prompts men and women to give for the
advancement of His cause. The agents through whom these gifts come
may open ways by which the light of truth shall be given to many
benighted lands. These people may have no sympathy with God’s work,
no faith in Christ, no acquaintance with His Word; but their gifts are
not on this account to be refused.

The Lord has placed His goods in the hands of unbelievers as well as
believers; all may return to Him His own for the doing of the work that
must be done for a fallen world. As long as we are in this world, as long
as the Spirit of God strives with human hearts, so long are we to receive
favors as well as to impart them.

Management by Force PDF Print E-mail

“Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together.
Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring
water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.”
– Numbers 20:8

Moses and the people had been traveling for days without water. The people were
thirsty. They were complaining and grumbling about their plight, and Moses became
the object of their complaining. Moses sought the Lord for wisdom on how to handle
the situation. The Lord instructed him to speak to the rock and water would flow.
This would be a sign that God was still in control, that Moses was still the leader,
and that God was their provider.

When it came time to speak to the rock, Moses’ disgust with the people became so
great that instead of speaking to the rock, he angrily addressed the people and then
struck the rock twice. The water came out, in spite of Moses’ disobedience. But the
Lord was not pleased with Moses.

This was a time for Moses to operate at a higher level. No longer was he called to
touch things with his staff to perform miracles; it was a time for him to speak to
the problem. His very words would have changed the situation. Moses’ staff represented
two things-his physical work as a shepherd of sheep and his spiritual work as a shepherd
of the people. God was calling him to move into a new dimension of using his staff. Up
to now, Moses had always been commanded by God to touch something to perform the
miracle. Now it was time to speak God’s word to the problem.

However, Moses made the mistake many of us make. He used his instrument with force
to accomplish something for God. He took something God wanted to be used in a righteous
manner and used it in an unrighteous manner. He used force to solve the problem. This
disobedience cost Moses his right to see the Promised Land.

Have you ever been tempted to use your power, skill, and ability to force a situation to
happen, perhaps even out of anger? God is calling us to use prayer to move the face of
mountains. The force of our ability is not satisfactory. God is calling each of us to a new
dimension of walking with Him. Pray that God will give you the grace to wait on Him
and not take matters into your own hands. Then you will not be in jeopardy of failing to
move into the Promised Land in your life.
